About Our Club

Who We Are

Manitou Springs Kiwanis is part of an international organization. We belong to Division 4 in the Rocky Mountain District, which is a District within Kiwanis International. A typical Kiwanis Club is a snapshot of its community, with members from all walks of life and at every step of life’s ladder.

Our History

The Kiwanis Club of Manitou Springs was chartered in 1921. Members work together to raise money for local charities that help children and young adults. 100% of all funds raised for charities are spent on charities.

Service projects are often linked to Kiwanis International programs. These initiatives place continuing focus on the needs of children in pediatric trauma, safety, child care, early development, infant health, nutrition, and parenting skills.

Our Mission

“To Serve the Children of the World”

• To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.

• To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

• To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

• To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

• To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

• To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.

Our Current Work

Manitou Spring’s Kiwanis Club local projects consist of Scouting Troop 18 support, High School Key Club, college scholarships for Manitou high school graduates, Westside Cares Food Bank, Halloween Carnival, Breakfast with Santa, Schriver Park cleanup, Youth Sports, Learn to Swim Program, and District 14 Robotics.

Service projects also address other needs within the community, such as working to stop substance abuse, helping the elderly, promoting literacy, supporting youth sports and recreation, responding to disasters, and supporting specific persons in need.

Kiwanis also plays a special role in developing future generations of leaders. High School Key Clubs are Kiwanis organizations that teach community service and leadership skills to young people.

About Kiwanis International “Serving the Children of the World”

Kiwanis is a global organization of members dedicated to serving the children of the world. Kiwanis and it’s family of clubs—nearly 600,000 members strong—annually raise more than $107 million and dedicate more than 18-million volunteer hours to strengthen communities and serve children. Members also make an impact throughout the world by participating in Kiwanis International’s global campaign for children, The Eliminate Project. In partnership with UNICEF, Kiwanis aims to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus from the face of the Earth.

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Our Kiwanis club looks out for our community and the Kiwanis international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. Our Kiwanis club is generous with its time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way!

For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.

The Kiwanis Mission & Vision

Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects

Kiwanis Service

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.

Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
